The Initial Consult:
To summarize, the initial consult is an experience consisting of two parts.
- Part 1: Pre-Meeting 45 Minute Video. Learn about college evaluation rubrics, the common denominators in students who stand out, and the master strategy for college applications that contributes to our industry leading success rate. Now, we’re ready to speak tactician-to-tactician. You’ll also learn concepts you can apply to your advantage whether or not you choose to utilize us for future service.
- Part 2: The 1 Hour Meeting. Think of the meeting as a “Chance Me” style analysis. In the first part of the meeting, you’ll be scored on a college evaluation rubric to get a baseline diagnosis of your strengths and vulnerabilities. Once that is done, we’ll revisit your last submitted college application to extract lessons learned. Then, we’ll discuss whether any of our hourly or package offerings are viable solutions for bridging the gap between your trajectory and goals. What you’ll learn will also help you determine if other companies are trying to oversell you.
Expectations and Scope:
The evaluation will lead to one of four recommendations:
- Some combination of college planning (to address vulnerabilities that college application assistance alone can’t fix) and application assistance*
- Only college application assistance is necessary (if you are currently competitive for your desired colleges and major)
- Only transfer planning is viable (when a high schooler has missed the window of opportunity to bring reach schools in range)
- There isn’t a viable counseling solution we can provide. I’ll include questions at the bottom of this email to try and screen early for this.
We’ll also determine the extent to which help is appropriate. Kindly note: all of our pricing is transparently and publicly listed on https://www.collegezoom.com/services/. The links at the bottom lead to our package pricing. Please kindly share these prices with your parents before replying to the requested information below to ensure this is okay with them.

*Note: If a college planning package is applicable, we’d start it now and pair it with a college application package in the summer before senior year. Kindly note: college planning and college application packages are two separate packages, with two separate price points.
